#ITALIAN HOLIDAYS. BOLOGNA [PART I]

Buongiorno! Today I am gonna talk about magnificent italian city called Bologna. So guys if you have already read my previous post you probably know that I stopped with relatives in Austria for a while. My relatives live in the south part of Austria (town - Spittal an der Drau) which means that sunny Italy is very close. I decided to use this great opportunity and to get under way.

My route:
1. Train  from Spittal an der Drau  to Villach
2. Bus from Villach to Venezia Mestre railway station
3. Train from Venezia Mestre to Bologna Centrale railway station
(To plan my route I used this cool website - Rome2rio)

Despite transfers I may say that way was not exhausting at all. Everything new attracts me :)
When I arrived to Bologna I realised that one day is not enough to explore the city. There are a lot of cool places. Be ready to listen brief stories about places you must visit:)
Let's go……………………………….. :)))

Готовьтесь выслушать рассказ о местах, которые просто MUST VISIT/MUST SEE.
#1 Two towers (Asinella tower and Garisenta tower)  - symbols of the city

Asinella tower is the highest tower in the whole Italy. Overcome 498 wooden stairs and visit observation platform. Entrance fee is 3 euro.

Wooden stair inside the tower

Stunning view! Really guys did not want to leave that place. Incredible glory!

You can see the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca afar

#2 The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca

The temple is situated relatively far away from the city center. Italians advised me to get to the place by bus #20, however I could not find it. So I decided not to waste time and took a taxi (payed approximately 10 euro).
The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca is national monument.  There is the icon of the Virgin Mary painted by Luke the Evangelist over 1000 years ago. The icon is miraculous.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca is famous for its winding gallery (legends says if person  reaches the temple by foot all sins will be washed away). Length of the gallery is 3,7 km (the longest gallery in the world). Gallery consists of 666 arches. Bad number u may say. However this time "the number of the beast" signifies as victory over Satan. The gallery of the temple symbolizes Satan which is stricken by Virgin Mary.

Visitors of the temple are mainly pilgrims, tourists and moreover people that take care of their body.To pass or to run the distance of 7,4 km is worth exercise. By the way the gallery is wide that is why you can easily jump over a rope or make burpee.
If you for some reasons can not get to the temple by foot it is not a problem at all cause there are buses and taxi that go directly to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca.

Fabulous view from Colle della Guardia
